| Coach Pitch Rules |
Player Pitcher Defensive player listed as the pitcher must stay inside pitcher's circle until the ball is hit. Pitcher may straddle the line. Coach Pitcher The adult pitcher is to stand near the pitchers mound. He is allowed to stand in front of the circle, up to the 20' line. Adult pitcher may not straddle the line. Batter Each batter will be allowed 5 pitches or 3 missed strikes. If the fifth pitch is fouled, the batter is not out unless a defensive player catches the ball in the air. If third pitch is batted foul, batter is out. A batter that throws or slings his bat is automatically out after one warning to the team. This is a judgement call made by the umpire. Catcher The catcher will wear catcher's equipment, if possible. A face mask is required at all times. Number of Players Maximum number of players is 10 with 4 in the outfield. It is up to the head coach's discretion whether he chooses to bat all players on his roster or just bat the 10 players that are in the lineup. If his decision is to bat all his players, the other team does not. Foul Balls A hit ball must travel 20 feet to be fair. If hit ball is untouched by defensive team and the spin on the ball brings it back inside 20-foot arc, it is a fair ball unless it crosses the foul line. Bunts No fake bunts allowed. If a player "shows" bunt then they are committed to attempt to bunt or take a pitch. Penalty for swinging after "showing" bunt, player will be declared out and no runners shall advance. Overthrows On overthrows, runners may advance until umpire calls the play dead. Overthrows into dugouts, over fences, etc. will be covered by the rules of baseball. No Infield Fly Rule Baserunners The umpire will call the play dead based upon his judgement of the forward progress of the baserunners. Tie Games Pool games that are tied when time expires will end in a tie. No new inning will be started. If the inning has started it must finish. This doesn't apply to elimination play. Time Limit The time limit for coach pitch games will be one hour. If the home team is ahead in the score and time expires then the game is over. The championship game will not have a time limit. Umpire In coach pitch only one umpire will be used. Awards First place will receive individual trophies. Second place will receive medals. Forfeit of Game Forfeits are frowned upon, but if one occurs then the forfeiting team will not only receive a loss but will not advance from pool play. If a forfeit occurs during elimination play then the forfeiting team will be placed last in the standings. Only the tournament director will determine if the forfeiting teams forfeit is warranted.
